Zachary Galifianakis

Zachary Knight Galifianakis (Greek pronunciation: October 1, 1969) was an American actor, comedian and musician. He also wrote and comedian. He was a comic, actor and host of Late World with Zach (VH1) Galifianakis is a regular in a number of films which include The Hangover Trilogy (2009-2013), Due Date (2010). The Campaign (2012), Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance (2014), and Masterminds (2016). Galifianakis voiced characters in animated films like Puss In Boots (2011) and The Lego Batman Movie (2017). He has also voiced Missing Link (2019) and Ron's Gone wrong (2211). Galifianakis is the host of the Funny or Die website chat show Between Two Ferns. He was featured in the FX series Baskets and was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2017. Zachary Knight Galifianakis, a North Carolina native, was born October 1 1969 in Wilkesboro. The actor is the child of Mary Frances (nee Cashion), and Harry Galifianakis, a heating oil dealer. His mother is of Scottish-Irish and English descent, and his paternal grandparents are Greek immigrants from Crete. He was baptized in accordance with the Greek Orthodox faith of his father. He is the younger brother of, Merritt and an older brother, Greg. His cousin Nick Galifianakis (Washington Post cartoonist) is his uncle. Galifianakis attended Wilkes Central High School and later went to North Carolina State University where he was a communications student. He worked as an operator of a radio station at an access station that was public in college. He was a teacher of the waltz, in 1991, when he first met Mary J. Blige. Following his debut on television Boston Common, Galifianakis joined Saturday Night Live for two weeks. He's said "I participated on Saturday Night Live for two weeks. Britney Spears was host one week when I was doing it. He wrote a sketch. Will Ferrell was going act as a bodyguard to her belly button and we'd have to shrink Will down to make her fit the belly button. After I explained it to them, she looked at me. She then declared, "Yeah, that's funny." Galifianakis played Out Cold's leading lady and played small roles in Below, Bubble Boy, Heartbreakers and Into the Wild.
