Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan is a blonde-haired, blue eyed woman with a vivacious personality. Her birth name is Margaret Mary Emily Hyra to Susan (Duggan) she was who was an English teacher, and once an actor. Harry Hyra was a math teacher. She is of Ruthenian, Polish, Irish, and German family heritage ("Hyra" is an Irish and Ruthenian surname, and "Ryan" is the maiden name of her maternal grandmother). Meg has graduated from Bethel High School in Bethel in May 1979. Meg moved to New York City and studied journalism at New York University. Meg Ryan was her new name, and she started acting to earn extra money while she completed her degree. 1981 was her biggest screen debut. She portrayed Candice Bergen's little girl in the film of George Cukor Rich and Famous (1981). She was an auditioned actress and named Betsy in the daily television soap The World Turns the World turns (1956). From 1982 to 1984, she was a member of the show's cast. Meg also had a part in the TV series One of the Boys (1982) however, the show was later cancelled. In 1984, she moved to a town with a lot of tinsel and eventually landed a job in the western television series Wildside (1985). Meg played a minor role in Top Gun (1986), and was then part of Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987), in which she co-starred with Dennis Quaid. In D.O.A.'s remake, she once again co-starred with Dennis Quaid. (1988) and the couple got married on Saint Valentine's Day in 1991. Meg appeared in 1989's When Harry Met Sally... (1989), and the scene in the restaurant became famous. Meg was nominated twice for the Golden Globe and BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. In 1993, she starred with Tom in Sleepless in Seattle (1993), for which she was again nominated for the Golden Globe. Meg decided to go against the grain in 1994 when she played the part of Meg's wife who is an alcoholic and motherin "When a Man Loves a Woman" (1994). Meg returned to being "cute" following that film with I.Q. (1994) and French Kiss (1996). In 1994, Meg won the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award for being "Woman of the Year" and was also voted as one of "The 50 most beautiful women in the world 1994" by People Magazine.
